SB 1047 Takes Flight! Airplane Banner Around Capitol Calls on Newsom to Sign Popular, Critical AI Bill

Sacramento, CA – On Monday afternoon, an airplane flyover urging Governor Newsom to sign critical AI legislation into law circled the Capitol from 4-7 PM.

“We’re taking to the skies in Sacramento because AI safety is too important to go unnoticed. SB 1047 is the most consequential bill to regulate Big Tech and AI in the country right now, and Governor Newsom has the chance to make it law.  For decades, the federal government has failed to pass any form of safety or accountability measures on technology. With his signature, Governor Newsom could cement his legacy as a leader ahead of the curve, and California would be the home of both AI innovation and AI safety. We urge Governor Newsom to sign this critical legislation today,” said Teri Olle, Director of Economic Security California Action.
